Daylight Savings… this Sunday (4th of October).

October 1st, 2009

It’s that time of year again…. daylight savings time. To make sure your TV Guide information is updated and to help ensure a smooth transition, we highly recommend that users (NSW, ACT, VIC, SA & TAS only) check the settings on their PVR, Mac or Media Centre at home on Sunday morning.

So while you’re running around the house on Sunday morning and adjusting all your clocks, be sure to check the clock and TV Guide data on your device at home. A conflict in the time your device thinks it is and the newly adjusted daylight savings time, may affect any scheduled recordings you have set from Sunday onwards.

IceTV will be sending out a friendly reminder email to all those this change may affect shortly, with some simple precautionary steps to take.

If you’re unsure or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our Customer Support team.

For Mac and Media Center customers:

If you have a computer based recorder (i.e. A mac running Elgato’s EyeTV software or a Windows PC running Media Center) then the update should go off without a hitch as the computer should update your timezone without any intervention. The best thing to do on Sunday morning is just check that the time is correct after the change as well as a couple of your scheduled recordings to ensure they are set at the correct times.

For Beyonwiz PVR’s:

We recommend that before setting the new timezone you perform a reset to factory defaults to clear out the existing timer information and then have it re-sent from the IceTV server, to do this:

  • 1. Perform a reset to factory defaults as detailed in the manual of the Beyonwiz.
  • 2. Go into the Setup of the Beyonwiz and on the first tab under Time Settings ensure that the time and timezone are correct for daylight savings.
  • 3. Re-scan the channels as per the Beyonwiz Manual.
  • 4. When this is done you can re-setup the network connection as per the Beyonwiz Manual.
  • 5. Re-enter your IceTV username and password under the IceGuide settings sections (more details on this can be found on the setup page on the IceTV website at Setting up IceTV and Beyonwiz PVR’s.
  • 6. Login to the IceTV website and go to the My Account section of the website.
  • 7. Click on the Interactive link on the left hand side of the screen.
  • 8. Click on the link to “Resend all recordings for all devices”, this will re-queue all recordings and they will then be scheduled on the Beyonwiz during it’s next update.

For Topfield TF7100HDPVRt and TRF-2400 (Masterpiece HD):

We recommend that before setting the new timezone you perform a reset to factory defaults to clear out the existing time information and then have it re-sent from the IceTV server, to do this:

  • 1. Perform a reset to factory defaults as detailed in the manual of the Topfield.
  • 2. Check both the time and timezone settings under the setup of the Topfield.
  • 3. Re-scan the channels as per the Topfield Manual.
  • 4. When this has been done you can re-setup the network connection as per the Topfield Manual.
  • 5. Re-enter your IceTV username and password under the EPG Settings section, more details on this can be found at:

Setting up IceTV for your Topfield TF7100HDPVRt
Setting up IceTV for your Topfield Masterpiece HD (TRF-2400)

For all other PVR’s (other Topfield models, DGTEC, Arista, Diginet):

Change the time and timezone information under the setup of the PVR (check your manual on how to do this) and then manually force an update of new guide information. You should now see the guide at the correct times. One thing to note is that any timers that were setup before changing the timezone information will probably be at the wrong time and will need to be cancelled and re-setup to be at the correct time.

If you have any problems running through these steps or are still having problems afterwards, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
