Channel 7TWO starts this Sunday.

October 26th, 2009

The Seven Network have announced that they will begin the official broadcast of their new second digital channel this Sunday (November 1) at 12:00pm.

According to Seven, their new free-to-air digital channel will be named ’7TWO’ and will be a ‘broad entertainment channel offering all viewers greater choice through a variety of shows with something for everyone no matter what age’.

7TWO

7TWO’s programming will be designed to ‘complement Channel Seven’s existing schedule so if you are not in the mood for Action on Seven then 7TWO will offer you an alternative… maybe Romance?’

7TWO will have themed nights, much like Nine’s second channel GO!, such as ‘Action & Adventure, Lifestyle and Movies with the latter featuring an extensive catalogue of family titles from Disney’s studios.

During the daytime, 7TWO will feature a mix of English dramas including ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Shortland Street’ alongside other so-called classics like ‘Sons and Daughters’, ‘Magnum PI’ and ‘Moonlighting’.

In the afternoons (Mon-Fri), expect to see ‘handpicked cooking programs from the world’s top chefs including Jamie Oliver, Curtis Stone, Rick Stein, Ainsley Harriott and Gary Rhodes’. While the important prime-time evening spots will be filled using ‘new series of favourites such as Ugly Betty, Heroes, Lost and 24′, as well as ‘The Sopranos’, ‘Six Feet Under’, the resurrection of ‘Murphy Brown’ and new episodes of ‘The Jay Leno Show’, five nights a week.

According to information released by the Seven Network, 7TWO will broadcast from 1st November, 2009 at 12.00pm.

Over the coming weeks, IceTV will closely monitor the launch of 7TWO and start to provide our own listings within the IceTV EPG for each guide region as soon as possible. Hopefully over time, we will start to see consistent programming on the new channel. We’re as excited as everyone about the potential of what a new channel and even more content can bring to free-to-view television (aka Freeview™) and IceTV users will continue to enjoy the freedom to watch whatever they want, whenever they want as well as be able to skip anything they don’t want to watch on 7TWO.

When we are confident with our coverage of 7TWO and we have been able to update our own IceTV EPG internally to reflect the new channel’s programming, we will notify all IceTV users accordingly. We greatly appreciate your patience during this time and we thank you in advance for your ongoing support.

In the meantime, for more information on what TV shows to expect on 7TWO we recommend you check out Seven’s official website for 7TWO or what our good friends over at TVTonight have to say.

To ensure you get access to the new channel and assuming you haven’t already done so, we recommend that you perform a ‘channel rescan’ on your digital TV recorder at home in time for Sunday’s launch.

If you need instructions or are unsure how to do this, please read the setup guide for your recorder. If you come across any technical problems whilst trying to do this, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team or check out Seven’s FAQ page on 7TWO.

Stay tuned for more information on 7TWO to follow.

Regards,

IceTV
